SIT DOWN HERE 2003
INTERACTIVE PUBLIC FURNITURE
Objects in our daily use are so integrated with our normal behaviour as not to stimulate any reaction towards our gestures and their meanings. Sitting on a bench is a habit which we do not pay much attention to: the act of sitting is reduced to immediate automatism.
Inspired by Sufism (purifying one’s innerself from all the worldly matters) Sit Down Here aims to shake the users up from their habitual life and increase their consciousness level.
The point is reading it as not a sentence but three separate words because they are placed on three separate blocks. Composing a meaningful sentence is the only thing they share in common.
Sit Down Here was exhibited at Salone Satellite in Milan and Adesign Fair both in 2003.
